Faire Fees for Brands: Commission and Costs (2026)
The short answer
As of October 2026, Faire is free for brands to join and charges per order. In North America you pay a 15% commission on marketplace orders, plus a one-time $10 new customer fee on a new retailer's first order, and 0% commission on retailers who come to you through Faire Direct. A payment processing fee of 1.9% to 3.5% plus $0.30 applies on top, depending on how fast you choose to be paid. Outside North America, a new retailer's first order costs 25% and reorders cost 15%.
How much does Faire charge brands in North America?
Faire charges two things on every North American order: a commission and a payment processing fee. The commission is 15% on marketplace orders, with a one-time $10 new customer fee added to the first order from a new marketplace retailer, and 0% on orders through Faire Direct. The processing fee depends on your payout speed. These figures come from Faire's Help Center article on brand fees in North America.
| Fee (North America) | What you pay | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace first order | 15% commission + $10 new customer fee | First order from a new retailer who found you on the Faire marketplace |
| Marketplace reorder | 15% commission | Repeat orders from marketplace retailers |
| Faire Direct | 0% commission | Retailers who order through your own Faire Direct link |
| Processing, next day payout | 3.5% + $0.30 | Every order, if you choose next day payout |
| Processing, 30-day payout | 2.4% + $0.30 | Every order, if you choose 30-day payout |
| Processing, 60-day payout | 1.9% + $0.30 | Every order, if you choose 60-day payout |
So when people ask "what is Faire's percentage," the honest answer is that it depends on who found the retailer and how fast you want your money. The commission is the big lever. The processing fee is smaller, but it applies to every order, including Faire Direct orders.
Once Faire sends your payout, the funds usually reach your bank 1 to 3 business days later. You can switch payout speed at any time in Account Settings under Payout, and the new option applies to future orders. For the full timeline, see how Faire payouts work.
How much does Faire charge brands outside North America?
Outside North America, Faire charges 25% on the first order from a new marketplace retailer, 15% on reorders and 0% on Faire Direct orders. The 25% is the standard 15% commission plus a one-time 10% referral fee. Payouts work differently too: you choose between a faster payout with a fee and a slower one without. The source is Faire's Help Center article on fees outside North America.
| Fee (outside North America) | What you pay | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace first order | 25% (15% commission + 10% referral fee) | A second order placed within 24 hours of the first is also charged 25% |
| Marketplace reorder | 15% | Any order placed 24 hours or more after the first |
| Faire Direct | 0% commission | Retailers who order through your Faire Direct link |
| ACH Next Day payout | 3% payout fee | Charged on the order value plus shipping |
| ACH Net 30 payout | No fee | You wait 30 days for the money |
Faire states the payout as: order subtotal, plus shipping reimbursement if you ship the order yourself, minus commission, minus any payout fee. On Net 30, the only deduction is the commission.
What does a Faire order actually cost? A worked example
On a hypothetical $500 first order from a new North American marketplace retailer, with 30-day payouts, you keep $402.70. The same retailer's $500 reorder leaves you $412.70. If that retailer had come to you through Faire Direct instead, each $500 order would leave you $487.70.
The numbers below are illustrative, not from a real account. The formula is: order subtotal minus commission minus new customer fee minus processing fee. For simplicity, this example applies the processing fee to the $500 subtotal and leaves out shipping.
| Hypothetical order (30-day payout) | Subtotal | Commission | New customer fee | Processing (2.4% + $0.30) | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace first order | $500.00 | $75.00 (15%) | $10.00 | $12.30 | $402.70 |
| Marketplace reorder | $500.00 | $75.00 (15%) | $0.00 | $12.30 | $412.70 |
| Faire Direct first order | $500.00 | $0.00 (0%) | $0.00 | $12.30 | $487.70 |
| Faire Direct reorder | $500.00 | $0.00 (0%) | $0.00 | $12.30 | $487.70 |
The arithmetic, line by line:
- Marketplace first order: $500 minus $75 (15% of $500) minus $10 minus $12.30 ($500 x 2.4% = $12, plus $0.30) = $402.70. Total fees: $97.30, or about 19.5% of the order.
- Marketplace reorder: $500 minus $75 minus $12.30 = $412.70. Total fees: $87.30, or about 17.5%.
- Faire Direct order: $500 minus $0 minus $12.30 = $487.70. Total fees: $12.30, or about 2.5%.
Across both orders, the marketplace retailer leaves you $815.40 and the Faire Direct retailer leaves you $975.40. That is a $160 difference on $1,000 of wholesale, which is the commission plus the new customer fee.
Payout speed matters less, but it still shows up. On the same $500 order, next day payout costs $17.80 in processing (3.5% of $500 is $17.50, plus $0.30) and 60-day payout costs $9.80 (1.9% of $500 is $9.50, plus $0.30). That is $8 per $500 order for being paid faster.
What does the Faire commission pay for?
The commission and new customer fee pay for finding and qualifying the retailer and removing the risk from the sale. According to Faire, they cover retailer verification, free returns on first orders, first-time buyer incentives, marketing and CRM tools. In practice you are buying a vetted new account plus protection on the transaction.
- Retailer verification. Faire checks that buyers are real retail businesses before they can order wholesale.
- Payment guarantee. Faire pays you on time even if the retailer pays late or defaults, with exceptions for terms violations, fraud, and missing or damaged goods.
- Free returns on first orders. Retailers can try you with less risk, which makes a first order easier to say yes to.
- 60-day payment terms. Eligible retailers get 60 days to pay, while you are paid on your chosen schedule.
- Tools and marketing. Buyer incentives, marketplace exposure and CRM tools for emailing your retailers.
Faire Direct retailers still get most of these benefits, including 60-day terms for eligible retailers and free returns on first orders. Retailers new to Faire also get a sign-up incentive and a year of free shipping on orders from you. That is why Faire Direct is such a good deal for brands: the retailer experience is the same, but you skip the commission.
How can you lower what you pay Faire?
The biggest saving is to bring retailers to Faire yourself through Faire Direct, because those orders carry 0% commission. After that, choose a slower payout if your cash flow allows it, and set wholesale prices that hold up after fees. Small changes here add up across hundreds of orders.
- Bring retailers in through Faire Direct. Send your Faire Direct link, QR code or widget to every store you pitch, meet at a trade show or already sell to. A $500 order that would cost $97.30 in fees as a new marketplace account costs $12.30 through Faire Direct in the example above. For the mechanics, read what Faire Direct is and how it works.
- Pick a slower payout if cash allows. Moving from next day to 60-day payout cuts processing from 3.5% to 1.9% (plus $0.30) in North America. Outside North America, Net 30 removes the 3% payout fee entirely.
- Price for the channel. Build Faire's fees into your wholesale price from the start so a 15% commission does not erase your margin. Our guide to wholesale pricing and margins shows how to set wholesale and retail prices that work after fees.
- Check every order's commission. If a retailer who came through your Faire Direct link is charged marketplace commission, raise it with Faire. Errors can happen, and they are worth catching.
Do Faire's fees change?
Yes. Faire has adjusted its fees over the years, and it publishes the current terms in its Help Center. Every figure in this article is accurate as of October 2026 and taken from Faire's own pages linked above. Before you set prices or forecast margins, check those two articles for the latest numbers.
The structure has stayed consistent even when the numbers moved: Faire charges more for retailers it finds for you and nothing in commission for retailers you bring yourself. Treat the marketplace commission as a customer acquisition cost and Faire Direct as the way to keep more of every order.
If you want that Faire Direct advantage without doing the prospecting yourself, Ginger's Faire wholesale agency finds and vets independent retailers for your brand every week and invites each one with your Faire Direct link, so new accounts start at 0% commission.
