How Faire Payouts Work: When Brands Get Paid

Manuel Lopez Joya, Co-founder, GingerPublished September 29, 20267 min read

The short answer

Faire pays brands on a schedule the brand chooses, not on the retailer's payment terms. Even when an eligible retailer gets 60 days to pay Faire, you can take your payout the next day, after 30 days, or after 60 days, and the clock starts when the order ships. Faster payout costs a higher processing fee. In North America that is 3.5% + $0.30 for next day, 2.4% + $0.30 for 30-day and 1.9% + $0.30 for 60-day payout.

Are Faire payouts tied to the retailer's net 60 terms?

No. Faire net 60 is a benefit Faire gives eligible retailers, and Faire carries that credit. Your payout runs on its own schedule, set by the payout option you pick in your brand account. A store can pay Faire in two months while you are paid tomorrow.

This is the part most brands misread when they first look at Faire payment terms for brands. Traditional wholesale on net terms means you ship, invoice, and wait (and sometimes chase). On Faire, the retailer's terms and your cash flow are separated. Faire sits in the middle, pays you, and collects from the store later.

Faire also guarantees on-time payment to the brand, so a retailer who pays late or never pays is Faire's problem, not yours. Faire lists exceptions to that guarantee: Terms of Service violations, fraud, and missing or damaged goods (see Faire's Help Center).

What are the Faire payout options and how much do they cost?

In North America, Faire offers three payout speeds, each with its own payment processing fee. The faster you want the money, the more you pay. Outside North America the choice is simpler: pay a fee for next day, or wait 30 days for free.

These fees are separate from commission. They are charged on every order, including commission-free Faire Direct orders. The figures below come from Faire's Help Center pages for North America and outside North America.

RegionPayout optionWhen Faire pays youFee

Outside North AmericaACH Next DayThe day after the order ships3% of order plus shipping

After Faire remits a payout, North American brands usually see the funds in their bank 1 to 3 business days later. You can change your payout option at any time in Account Settings > Payout. The new option applies to future orders, not to orders already in progress.

How is a Faire payout calculated?

Your payout is what the retailer ordered, plus any shipping you are owed, minus Faire's cut. Faire's Help Center for brands outside North America spells it out as a formula:

Payout = order subtotal + shipping reimbursement (if you ship yourself) − commission − payout fee

Commission depends on the order type: 15% on marketplace orders and reorders, a higher rate or one-time fee on a new marketplace customer's first order, and 0% on every order from a retailer whose first order came through your Faire Direct link. The full breakdown by region is in our guide to Faire fees for brands. The payout fee is the processing fee tied to the payout speed you chose.

When do brands get paid on Faire?

The payout clock starts when the order ships, not when the retailer places it or pays for it. From the ship date, Faire pays on your chosen schedule: next day, 30 days or 60 days. The money then takes 1 to 3 business days to land in a North American bank account.

Here is the typical sequence for a single order:

  1. The retailer places an order. If they are eligible, they choose to pay Faire now or on net 60 terms. This does not change your timeline.
  2. You accept and ship. Mark the order as shipped with tracking in your brand portal. This is the moment your payout clock starts.
  3. Faire remits your payout on the schedule you selected, net of commission and the processing fee.
  4. The funds reach your bank, usually 1 to 3 business days after Faire sends them.

The practical takeaway: the fastest way to get paid is to ship fast and confirm shipment promptly. An order sitting unshipped is an order with no payout clock running.

How do you choose a payout speed?

Choose based on what cash is worth to you right now. Next day payout is the most expensive option, but it turns a shipped order into cash almost immediately. 60-day payout is the cheapest, but it ties up your money for two months. 30-day payout sits in the middle.

Here is an illustrative example on a hypothetical $1,000 marketplace reorder in North America, assuming the 15% commission and the processing fee are both calculated on the $1,000 subtotal and no shipping reimbursement applies. Check your own order statements for exact figures.

Payout optionCommission (15%)Processing feeYou receiveWhen
Next day$150.00$35.30$814.70Day after shipping
30-day$150.00$24.30$825.7030 days after shipping
60-day$150.00$19.30$830.7060 days after shipping

On this order, taking your money 59 days sooner costs $16.00 more than waiting for 60-day payout. Moving from 30-day to next day costs $11.00. Whether that is worth it depends on your business:

  • Choose next day if you are buying inventory for the next batch, growing fast, or would otherwise borrow to cover the gap. Paying a small fee is usually cheaper than a loan or a missed production run.
  • Choose 30-day or 60-day if you have a cash cushion and your margins are tight. On a large volume of orders, the fee difference adds up.
  • Switch seasonally. Because the setting applies to future orders and you can change it any time, some brands take next day payout before a busy season and slower payout once stock is paid for.

What can delay a Faire payout?

Most payout delays trace back to the order itself, not to Faire's schedule. If shipment is not confirmed, or if something goes wrong with the order, the money can be held or reduced. Knowing the common causes helps you avoid them.

  • Shipping not confirmed. The payout clock only starts once the order is marked as shipped. If you ship but forget to add tracking or update the order, your payout waits.
  • Disputes. If a retailer raises a problem with an order, the payout for that order can be affected while it is resolved.
  • Missing or damaged items. Faire's payment guarantee excludes missing or damaged goods. Pack carefully and keep photos of what you ship so you can respond quickly to a claim.
  • Terms of Service issues. Violations of Faire's Terms of Service, or suspected fraud, fall outside the guarantee and can hold up payment.
  • Bank timing. Even after Faire remits, funds usually take 1 to 3 business days to clear. Weekends and bank holidays add to that.

If a payout looks late, start by checking the order status in your brand portal. Confirm it shows as shipped with tracking and has no open issue, then contact Faire support if everything looks correct.

Do Faire Direct orders pay out the same way?

Yes. Faire Direct orders use the same payout options, the same processing fees and the same ship-date clock as marketplace orders. The difference is commission: once a retailer places their first order through your Faire Direct link, you pay 0% commission on their orders.

Using the same hypothetical $1,000 order with 0% commission, a next day payout would leave you $964.70 after the $35.30 processing fee, and a 60-day payout would leave you $980.70 after the $19.30 fee. The retailer still gets Faire's benefits, including 60-day payment terms if they are eligible, so you are not asking them to give anything up. Learn more in what Faire Direct is and how it works.

How do you keep track of payouts across many orders?

Reconcile each payout against the order it came from. Check that the commission matches the order type and that the processing fee matches your payout setting. Mistakes are easiest to fix when you catch them early, especially a Faire Direct order that was charged commission by error.

That reconciliation gets tedious as order volume grows. Ginger traces every order to its source in each client's dashboard and checks commission on every order, so mischarged Faire Direct orders get flagged and claimed. If you would rather hand off the whole channel, see how Ginger runs this for brands.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for brands to get paid on Faire?
It depends on the payout speed you choose. In North America you can pick next day, 30-day or 60-day payout, and the clock starts when the order ships. Once Faire sends the money, it usually reaches your bank in 1 to 3 business days.
If a retailer pays on net 60, does the brand wait 60 days?
No. Net 60 terms are an arrangement between the retailer and Faire, not between the retailer and you. Your payout timing is set by the payout option you choose in your brand account, so you can be paid the next day even when the store pays Faire 60 days later.
What are the Faire payout options and fees in North America?
Faire offers next day payout at a 3.5% + $0.30 processing fee, 30-day payout at 2.4% + $0.30, and 60-day payout at 1.9% + $0.30. These processing fees are separate from commission. You can change your option in Account Settings > Payout, and the change applies to future orders.
What happens if a retailer does not pay Faire?
Faire guarantees on-time payment to the brand, so a retailer default is Faire's risk rather than yours. The guarantee has exceptions, including Terms of Service violations, fraud, and missing or damaged goods. Outside those cases you are paid on your chosen schedule regardless of what the retailer does.
Do Faire Direct orders pay out differently?
Faire Direct orders follow the same payout options and processing fees as marketplace orders. The difference is commission: when a retailer places their first order with you through your Faire Direct link, that order and every later order from them carry 0% commission. That means more of each order reaches your bank on the same payout schedule.
